matt+kim is such happy music. and i'm in a great mood! even though today was the start of school after break, i have an easy day of working on a presentation/annotated bib and giving a practice test.
B and i had plans to see black swan at programm kino ost but i got the dates mixed up so we'll go next week. but perhaps this weekend we'll go to thalia and see the kids are all right. i'm very behind on cinema, which i used to be über-knowledgeable about while living in the US and trailers are played constantly, but without a TV i rely on this site, which lists all the original-language or subtitled movies playing in dresden. which i know is kind of a cop-out and i should really be watching movies in german, but watching american actors with dubbed german voices is too strange for me ie the time i flipped out while hearing al pacino's german voice. some things you just don't mess with.
programm kino ost and thalia are definitely my favorite cinemas in dresden. the rest are over-done and too much. perhaps it's because i grew up going to carnation cinema (cannot find a picture, settle for this cheese shop in alliance), which still costs $4.50 for an evening show.
thalia incidentally is also my favorite bar in dresden. it's very cozy with small tables and very easy to have good conversations over a staropramen with close friends. i hate loud, crowded places except when it's good for dancing. the lebowski bar is a necessity for all fans, but it's so cramped and crowded and you always end up accidentally sitting on some stranger's lap as they push their drink to you, saying "IT IS WHITE RUSSIAN, TRY, SEHR GUT" without fail.
